Simple. First request a free Gold Exchange Kit. It is COMPLETELY FREE and will arrive in your mail box usually within 4-7 business days.
Follow the easy instructions in your Gold Exchange Kit to safely and securely prepare your items for shipment. The just drop the package in the mail. We cover the cost of postage, track and insure your items. See our Terms of Service for details.
When we receive your shipment, our experts will evaluate the items for weight and quality and send you a check for the full recycle value, minus a 6% processing fee. Most checks are sent within one business day.
Yes. Completely free. We ask that you only make a request a kit if you are planning to send items in.
You may send in any unwanted items made of gold, silver, platinum or which contain medium or large diamonds. If you're not sure about an item go ahead and send it in anyway. Our experts will carefully examine each item. We will give you the maximum amount possible including allowing fractional value for small stones and non-precious metals that otherwise would not have any recycle value.
Please send in only items you intend to sell for their scrap value. We are not an appraisal service. If your items have sentimental, historical, intrinsic or artistic value please do not send them in. We are a commodites exchange and can only value the items for their weight and metal quality.
Yes. We are fanatics when it comes to safeguarding your items. We have devised many way to track and protect your items. Here are just a few:
In the free Gold Exchange kit, we provide a triple thickness zip lock baggie that seals completely. Once sealed properly, it is waterproof and requires nearly adult strength to open. This baggie holds your items and goes in the shipping envelope.
The shipping envelope is a super tough package made of space age materials. This nearly tear-proof envelope has never failed us in shipping when properly sealed.
Each Gold Exchange Kit is coded with its own tracking number and bar code unique to the client. There is even an additional hidden code on each envelope as a back up system.
The shipping envelope is plain and hides the fact that there are valuables inside thus drawing no attention from thieves as it moves through the mail.
Our processing center where the items are opened is a secure facility and not open to the public.
All packages are insured against loss and tracked. Losses are EXTREMELY RARE. See our Terms of Service for details.
Gold, silver and other precious items are sent and delivered via mail everyday by refiners, jewelry stores and others. In fact, postal mail is the most common way for these types of items to be transferred. We have made special arrangements to secure our packages and deter loss and damage. Last year thousands of people shipped their items this way.
In the past most people went to a pawnshop as their only way to sell their gold items. A pawn shop would let you pawn the gold item and return to repurchase it later. In most cases they knew that they would end up owning the item and need to resell it later. In order to make a profit the pawn broker must pay just a fraction of that the item will re-sell for, not what the item is valued at.
Selling your gold through the Gold & Stone Exchange gives you the chance to get more cash for your gold. Unlike a pawnshop, we pay you based on the weight and content of each gold item, not what the item can be resold for. Where a pawn show would reject broken, worn or outdated gold (anything they doubt they can resell quickly at a profit) we pay for its full recycling value. This gets you the most money for your items.
We are a service organization that accepts gold and other precious metals from the public and commercial sources. We recycle it and return the base metal in to the marketplace.
We are not a pawn broker, jewelry retailer or jewelry wholesaler. Those types of business operations usually send their gold items to us after buying them from the public.

Pawnshops and retail stores buy gold from the public at a very low price so they can resell it to a gold exchange like us to make a profit. Selling your precious metals directly to us cuts out the middleman.
All items are insured against loss for up to $100. See our Terms
of Service for details. If you believe your items are worth more than $100.00
or if you are unsure, then we give you the option of sending your items using
your own packaging, carrier, and insurance.

Please include your contact information and a list of the contents in the shipment so we can be sure everything arrives in good order.
We rely on the Post Office for most shipments. Generally they arrive in 6 to 10 days using the pre-addressed, postage paid security envelope included in the Gold Exchange Kit. Settlement checks for your items are usually sent within one business day of receipt.
The payment for your gold is based on the quality, weight and market price on the day your gold arrives at our processing center. We pay the full recycling rate minus a 6% transaction fee.
Example:
A shipment of gold arrives and our experts determine the recycle value to be $200. We then deduct 6% ($12) for processing and send you a check for $188.
Yes. Our gemologists determine the recycle value of each medium and large diamond we receive. That amount is then added to your settlement check. Please note that some small diamonds actually have no significant recycle value. However, we do assign fractional values to them as part of the overall payment calculation.
Yes, if they are particularly large. However, most small gemstones have no residual commercial value. As with diamonds we do give some fractional value for them when calculating your payment.
If for any reason you are not satisfied with your settlement check amount, or even if you just change your mind, we will send your items back to you insured at our expense. All we ask is that you simply return the check as outlined in our Terms of Service.

Our experts evaluate every item you send in and we pay for all gold accordingly. Even if an item is not made of pure or solid gold we may still assign it a fractional value and that amount will be added to your payment.
If our standard kit is too small to hold your items you may either:
1. Request additional kits by contacting service@goldandstoneexchange.com or;
2. Send your shipment along with the Payment Information Form to us using your own packaging, carrier, and insurance. We recommend FedEx for larger shipments as their record with us has been impeccable.
We usually melt down the items to their original base metals. These base metals return to the marketplace and are ultimately used to make new jewelry, etc.
